Are you tired of doing all the things, yet the inquiries just aren’t rolling in? Well, this is going to change that for you. I’m sharing six strategies I use in my own social media management business to drive discovery calls and book more clients.
Inquiries are the backbone of our social media management business. Without inquiries and clients coming in, we don’t really have a business, right? Here’s what could be causing your lack of inquiries, what strategies or tactics you can implement, and what you might need to tweak.
Get Visible
First things first—you need to get visible. If you don’t talk about what you do, how can you expect people to know you provide that service, are taking on clients, or that they can work with you? Here’s a funny story: In high school, I asked my prom date to prom. Yep, me—introverted and awkward—made brownies in the shape of “P-R-O-M” and asked him because I knew I wanted a date and he wasn’t asking. And he said yes! My point? If you want something, go for it.
If you want client inquiries to roll in, think about how to get in front of your ideal client. Are you showing up consistently on your pillar platform, like Instagram? Think about what content would interest your ideal clients, how you can solve their problems, and how you can educate them about the benefits of hiring a social media manager.
Consider leveraging Instagram’s location feature and hashtags. If you’re targeting local businesses, use location-based hashtags like #PerthSocialMediaManager. I have a whole podcast episode on visibility tactics (episode 7), so check that out for more tips.
Streamline Your Sales Process
Your sales process should be straightforward. Put yourself in your ideal client’s shoes and ask, “How are they finding you?” Is it through Instagram, your website, TikTok? From there, what’s the process to check out your services and get in touch? Make sure your services are clear, your booking process is easy, and your response times are prompt.
Ensure your website is not only aesthetic but also strategic. Make it easy for visitors to understand who you are, what you offer, and how they can contact you. Consider listing your prices or having a pricing guide available. If people don’t see prices, they might be turned off.
Share Your Prices
If you don’t have your prices listed on your website, this could deter inquiries. Consider a pricing guide where clients can input their email to receive a well-put-together guide that shares your services, prices, past clients, your process, and how to move forward. Alternatively, state your prices or list a starting price so potential clients know the general range. This filters out those who can’t afford your services and attracts those who can.
Prompt Responses
How quickly are you responding to inquiries? Timely replies show you take your job seriously, are professional, and care. Use a canned email to immediately thank them for inquiring and state when they can expect a response. Aim to reply within a few hours to make a strong impression.
Encourage Referrals
Encourage your current clients to refer you to others. Offer incentives like $50 off their next month of service for each referral. If you enjoy working with a client, chances are you’ll enjoy working with their friends too.
Network
Networking is powerful. Attend industry events, join online groups, and connect with other professionals in your field. Building relationships can lead to referrals and new business opportunities.
Final Thoughts
Booking more clients as a social media manager involves a combination of visibility, a streamlined sales process, social proof, creating urgency, encouraging referrals, and networking. Implement these strategies to see a positive change in your inquiries.
